Interesting areas in the Murcia region

Aguilas

Aguilas is the southernmost town/municipality in the Murcia region. It is perfectly located directly by the sea. It has a beautiful port, lovely city and wonderful beaches.

Cartagena

Cartagena is the second largest city in the Murcia region, it is an ancient port city and the most important Spanish naval base on the Mediterranean.

Lo Pagan

Due to the good microclimate and the high salt content (salt is extracted just outside Lo Pagan) it is one of the healthiest areas in the whole world.

Los Alcázares

The Romans were first to settle in the area. The salt content of the Mar Menor allowed them to set up an industry with salted meat, fish as well as thermal baths and spas.

Murcia is the capital of the region of the same name. The population is approx. 450,000 - making it Spain's seventh largest city. Its history dates back to the year 825, when it was founded by the Emir of Cordoba.

San Pedro del Pinatar

San Pedro del Pinatar is a small town and municipality in the province of Murcia, the area is 22 km2 and the population is just over 25,000. It is located midway between the cities of Alicante and Cartagena, close to the Mediterranean Sea.

Santiago de la Ribera

Santiago de la Ribera has got a beautiful sandy beach. It?s a fishing town just outside San Javier. On one side is a beautiful older military academy.
